Petition: Pass A Statewide Non-Discrimination Law

We the undersigned, support the passage of House Bill (HB) 139/Senate Bill (SB) 131. This bill will protect Alaskans from overt discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression. HB 139/SB 131 will protect citizens from discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, financing, or credit. We encourage the Legislature to pass this important legislation.

    “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” These words were written by men who helped form this country. All men, women, children; all persons living in this country deserve to have life, liberty, and happiness. This bill will provide the LBGTQ community, many of my friends, with the same basic rights as my husband and I have. All citizens of this country deserve these rights no matter the color, race, creed, belief, or sexual orientation. Please pass this bill to allow all Alaskans the rights to life, liberty, and happiness.

    This bill is very important to me and my family. I hope our legislators can stand up against discrimination so that my children never have to witness their mothers being discriminated against in Alaska.
