The Trump Administration just fired another salvo in their war on the LGBTQ community. 

Yesterday, via Tweet, Mr. Trump banned transgender individuals from serving in the United States military taking the Pentagon and LGBTQ advocates by surprise. Alaskans Together for Equality joins more than 200 LGBTQ leaders from equality advocacy organizations in condemning this action by President Trump.

Since the lifting of the ban on transgender service members in June 2016, many transgender troops have begun living and working openly. The ban announced via Twitter puts their safety and future at risk. 
 
This discriminatory ban is unacceptable!

Here's what you can do:

Call the White House switch board and let them know that the Transgender military ban is unacceptable and demand he reverse this dangerous move. The switch board number is (202) 456-1414.

We will not go back to the days of "don’t ask, don’t tell." We will not allow our hard-won rights to be rolled-back by the hydra of hate. Alaskans Together for Equality will continue our work with state and national organization to fight this ill-conceived ban, and we will prevail.
 
Discrimination is not Alaskan, and it is un-American! 

It is unconscionable that this Administration continues to target our community and keeps attempting to enshrine policies that are crafted to cause us harm. Alaskans Together for Equality, along with our growing membership, will continue to do all we can to make sure that LGBTQ Alaskans and Americans are protected.
