President Trump selected conservative, radical and extremist Judge Neil Gorsuch as his nominee to the United States Supreme Court, an appointment that was stolen from President Obama by Senate Republicans.
The Gorsuch nomination is a direct threat to LGBTQ rights. Gorsuch’s nomination is supported by some of the most anti-LGBTQ voices in the country including the co-founder of the National Organization for Marriage, the leaders of the Alliance Defending Freedom with launches anti-LGBTQ lawsuits, and Kelly Shackelford, president of Texas-based anti-LGBTQ group First Liberty.
A vote for Gorsuch for Supreme Court Justice is a vote against our community, a vote for the Muslim ban, a vote supporting the Hobby Lobby decision that gives corporations the right to discriminate, and a vote to deny transgender people the right to critical healthcare.
Please contact Sen. Murkowski and Sen. Sullivan today and ask them to oppose this nominee.

Other Key Points:
- Enact laws that prioritize personal religious beliefs over enshrined Constitutional rights. Gorsuch is well known for his commitment to prioritizing personal religious beliefs over all other rights and freedoms, making him especially appealing to people who wish to use the guise of religious freedom as an excuse for anti-LGBTQ discrimination.
- Block access to basic health care for millions of Americans. Gorsuch sided with Hobby Lobby in the 2014 case during which he defined the concept extremely broadly, ruling that people or corporations could cite their religious beliefs to legally infringe upon the rights of others. Opponents of LGBTQ equality heralded Gorsuch as a “religious liberty” advocate.

"We have concluded that his views on civil rights issues are fundamentally at odds with the notion that LGBT people are entitled to equality, liberty, justice and dignity under the law."
